Caffeine is one of my favourite utilities for Mac. It’s a very simple and lightweight piece of software, which purpose is to prevent you Mac from going to sleep and to prevent the brightness of the screen being reduced if you haven’t touched the keyboard in a minute or two.
It’s very easy to use Caffeine, and it doesn’t use any system resources. Obviously it lowers the battery time on you computer, because it disables all the traditional ways Mac OS prolong its battery life. Therefore I recommend only using it when you are near a power outlet.
When you install Caffeine you get a cup of smoking hot coffee in the menu bar.
By clicking on the icon you can easy activate/deactivate Caffeine. If you right-click on the icon you get into the program menu, where you can edit the settings for your need. Below you can see a screenshot of the Caffeine menu:
I would have a hard time living without Caffeine. It’s a very simple utility, which helps you get rid of the frustrating change in brightness. Caffeine is also very useful if you watch movies on you Mac.
